Norphonic has been confirmed among the prominent organisations to present at the Mine Site Emergency Preparedness & Rescue Innovations conference taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa on the 6-7 April 2011.
The two day conference is inspired by the recent dramatic rescue of all 33 miners trapped 700 meters underground for two months in Chile, and feature special presentations from organisations involved in that rescue operation. The event will focus on technologies and systems needed to improve procedures used in mine rescue, evacuation and recovery operations.
Lessons will be drawn from a number of historic cases with the facilitation of informed and experienced mine rescue and safety professionals from academia, governments and industry.
Norphonic will be represented by Global Sales and Marketing Director Helge Rognstad who will deliver a speech entitled ”Improving Communications in Underground Mining”. This presentation will focus on what critical factors a mining organisation need to evaluate when deciding on implementing communications technology underground, such as IP mine phones, leaky feeder systems and wireless communications technology. The presentation will also cover how remote video surveillance and public address systems can be incorporated in a total IP-based site security application.
Dedicated Workshop on Robust Underground Communications Norphonic’s business partner in South Africa, Becker Electronics, will also be present at the event, hosting a two-hour workshop entitled ”Robust Underground Mining Communications - Increasing Productivity and Improving Safety for Mining Workers”.
