Norphonic Wins New Major Offshore Renewable Energy Installation

Norphonic Wins Sheringham Shoal InstallationForwind, the major consortium of the major energy organisations Scottish and Southern Energy plc, RWE npower Renewables, Statoil, and Statkraft, has selected Norphonic to deliver robust VoIP communications technology for their Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Power park outside the coast of the United Kingdom.

Forewind’s Operation and Maintenance Director Frank-Are Steinbakk is eager to point out the advantage of already-made experiences to face the operations & maintenance challenges in offshore renewable energy market: ”The access and scale of these projects are probably the biggest challenges and for this we are relying on the expertise of our partners, as well as that of our suppliers to make the installations successful”.

Norphonic is the leading provider of Heavy Duty VoIP Telephones in the Offshore Renewable energy market, with over 40 per cent of all wind turbines now relying on Norphonic to deliver essential communications and critical service continuity.

Helge Rognstad, Global Sales and Marketing Director at Norphonic comments: ”In these type of installations, for reasons of stability and repeatability, it is critical to have a robust open standard VoIP telephone installed because it integrates seamlessly with existing SCADA systems and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) solutions - whether it is Cisco, Alcatel, Broadsoft or Digium. The Norphonic VoIP solution gives the end user flexibility to add features and changes at a later date, making the system truly future-proof ”

”Forewind is likely to deliver 10% of UK’s offshore electricity production by 2020, and as such they will be one of the largest renewable players globally. We at Norphonic are therefore very proud to be associated with this important renewable energy installation”.

Mr. Rognstad concludes: ”As offshore wind farms are becoming larger, the need for our VoIP solutions and remote management systems will only increase in the future. We are well prepared for this demand and anticipate further large orders in the months ahead”.
