Norphonic Mining Communication Solutions will be on display when Becker Electronics invites new and existing customers to their Stand C18 (Hall 6) at the Electra Mining Exhibition, taking place at the MTN Expo Centre at Nasrec/ Johannesburg in South Africa on the 4 – 8 October this year.

With over 40 years of history, the bi-annual Electra Mining event has grown to become the largest and most important mining exhibition in South Africa. Over 41,000 visitors are expected to visit the event this year, and over 650 exhibitors will display their products and services.

Health and Safety will once again be under the spotlight at this exhibition, particularly with the recent accident in Chile fresh in the memory, where 33 miners are trapped underground following the collapse of several underground tunnels in a copper mine north in the country. The accident has shocked the world's top copper producers and shed light on safety conditions at many mines across the world, where thousands of people risk their lives for a piece of the copper commodity bonanza.

At stand C18 (Hall 6), Norphonic’s local South African partner Becker Electronics will present the very latest Norphonic VoIP telephone, especially tailored to underground mining areas. The Norphonic SIP Telephone is both water and dust resistant with a performance rating of IP65. It is otherwise bulit to withstand extreme temperatures, humid and dirty environments. The external hookswich has no moving parts, further making the telephone ideal for use in mining environments where high levels of dust, water and grime are prevalent.
